In this tutorial you will learn how to blur part of an image in Photoshop CS6 using the Iris Blur effect. The Irish blur effect is to highlight the particular object in oval shape and blur the remaining area.
Select an image that you need to blur part of an area.

Choose Filter > Blur > Iris Blur.

Then the image will open inside the Blur Gallery and view the new Properties panel as below.

The image will have an oval area with many pins around it to adjust the blur density.

Use the below Blur Tools option values, which I have used to blur the image.

Adjust the pins of the image according to your requirement of the blur effect. If you are ok with the iris blur effect which you can see the changes in the preview, then click “Ok”.

The Progress bar will load to save the iris blur changes which you have done.

The final outcome of the image can be seen here.

As you can see we have highlighted the “girraffe” image area and blurred the other area surrounding it using the Iris Blur tool.
