Step 4 : Now you can sketch the pineapple’s inner path using a Pencil Tool (N). Here I am using a 2pt (orange) stroke on the lines.

Draw the crossed lines in the opposite direction using the same values.

Step 5 : Now let’s enter the text on the outer area of the pineapple image. Choose the Type on a Path Tool on the text tool fly out to create horizontal text along a path. Choose Type > Type on a Path Tool > Type on a Path Options.

In the Type on a Path Options window, there is a drop down menu for Effect, Align to Path and Spacing. You can choose and set the Effect as you like.

Select the font, size & color as shown below. Then position the pointer on the path, & click and enter the text for the top of the oval.

Note: If the path is closed, rather than open, you must use the Type On A Path tool.

Step 6 : We’ll create the copy of the same text and paste over the pineapple outline path that you have already created. If you enter more text than can fit within an area or along a path, a small box containing a plus symbol (+) appears near the bottom of the bounding area.

Step 7 : Next choose Type > Vertical Type Tool > Type on a Path Options. Then click anywhere on the object’s path and type the text for the vertically flowing text.

The Vertical Type tool creates vertical type and vertical type containers and lets you enter and edit vertical type.

Note: If the object is an open path, you must use the Area Type tool to define the bounding area. Illustrator draws an imaginary line between the endpoints of the path to define the boundaries.

Continue to enter the text for all the drawn lines.

Step 9 : In-order to give the color effect to the pineapple. Duplicate the pineapple outer path and choose Area Type Tool. Add further the text with the font color and size as shown here.

Choose Type > Area Type Tool > Area Type Options

The Area Type Options is used to create rows and columns of text.

Step 10 : Remember to move and arrange the yellow color path of the pineapple to the back, so that it will not hide the crossed lines. You can move the text boxes, images and objects to the front or back of an object using Arrange options.

Select Object > Arrange > Send Backward to move the pineapple yellow color path to the back.
